The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation partnered with Daylight to envision a future where health information empowers people to manage wellness.

Making potential futures tangible

We help create new-to-world ideas that include product, service and software systems. Video-based “experience prototypes” allow us to illustrate future product and software behaviors and key moments at a fraction of the cost of building fully functioning prototypes. They also show the intended experience in the context of real people’s lives, making the ideas accessible and tangible to our clients’ internal and external audience.

That’s exactly what Robert Wood Johnson Foundation asked us to do for their Project HealthDesign initiative. Our role was to understand the vision of each organization sponsored by the Foundation, and then create a tangible vision of the future. Nine “narrative prototype” videos were the result. Each follows a fictional character as they interact with hardware, software and service touchpoints of nine potential futures.

This project tapped the talents of a diverse team including experience designers, writers, interaction designers, industrial designers, mechanical engineers, modelmakers, photographers, video editors and producers.

  • Physical and virtual prototypes made solutions accessible and tangible to Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's broad audience.
